Hello!
I am asking you to help my 24-year-old son. In April 2009 Denis was having a
medical examination at a military enlistment office, and the blood counts
were not very good. The doctors suspected chronic myeloblastic leukemia. In
May 2009 that diagnosis was confirmed at an examination at the Hematology
Research Center of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences.
In June my son began to take Glivec. The next examination in December 2009
showed that the drug was not working. My son had a mixed type blast crisis.
On December 28 Denis was admitted to the chemotherapy against leukemia unit.
1.5 months hematological remission was achieved.
Considering his young age and a poor prognosis due to a rapid progression
resulting in a blast crisis during Glivec treatment the doctors decided to
perform a bone marrow transplantation.
It was performed on April 19. His sister became his donor.
Now Denis has to take Vfend on a regular basis (1 pack costs around 30,000
roubles). The doctors suppose that he might soon need other expensive drugs.
Please help me buy the drugs for my son.
Respectfully, Denis' mother,
Larisa Petrovna Osokina

Update as of July 1, 2010.
70 days have passed after the transplantation. Denis is getting treatment
at a day patient facility. Unfortunately he had a complication – lung infection
(aspergillosis). Vfend therapy resulted in improvements seen at CT, but breathing
problems remain. Further therapy is being discussed. Hematological situation
is stable. Denis is feeling ok but is weak and has breathing problems.
Update as of July 7, 2010.
Denis had a neoformation on his leg. Biopsy was performed,
no cancer cells found, histology results are yet to be considered.
Denis is still taking Vfend (600 mg).
Update as of August 10, 2010.
Denis feels rather well. He underwent CT scan and myelogram, and their
results will help determine further treatment. He still needs Vfend.
Update as of August 13, 2010.
Denis's bone marrow test results were good. Leukocyte count has increased,
and platelets are close to norm. However, CT scan showed that fungal
infection in his lungs is not completely cured. Denis still needs Vfend therapy.
This medication is expensive, and Denis needs 600 mg a day.
This is a high dose. Please help Denis.
