Hello,
I am asking for help with saving the life of my son, Igor Krivchuk. Igor is 3.5 years
old. He got sick in July 2009 with acute myeloblastic leukemia. Early this year
he had a relapse of his disease and he doctors told us he needs bone marrow
transplantation from an unrelated donor, which can be done only abroad. In
Ukraine, unrelated bone marrow transplantations are not done.
We contacted R. Gorbacheva Pediatric Hematology Institute and they agreed to
take my son in for transplantation. However, the donor search costs 15,000 euros,
and for us the transplantation itself also has to be paid for. It costs 2,400,000
rubles.
I cannot raise the necessary amount on my own. For a year already we have been
fighting for Igor's life, going through many difficult procedures on a daily
basis. Practically this while time we have been living in Kiev's hospital.
I am an orphan myself. I was adopted when I was 10 years old. I am a seamstress
by profession, and I have an older son who is 9 years old. My boys' father
left the family and does not support us in any way. We are asking for your help
and hoping that if you have the smallest opportunity to support us, you will
do so.
Respectfully,
Liliya Krivchuk

Update as of June 25, 2010.
We are sincerely grateful to Russian Help Fund for agreeing to pay for
transplantation (2.4 million rubles) and collection of donor's transplant
(10,000 euros). Therefore, we urgently need to raise 5,000 euros for the
donor search and 2,500 euros for delivery of transplant to St. Petersburg.
Update as of July 17, 2010.
Unfortunately, Igor had a relapse. There is no
time left for donor search. Igor and his mom are coming to St. Petersburg
for haploidentical bone marrow transplantation. The equipment for the
transplantation will be paid for by the Russian Help Fund.
Update as of August 4, 2010.
Igor was hospitalized at R. Gorbacheva Pediatric Hematology & Transplantology
Institute. Haploidentical transplantation from his mother is scheduled for
the end of August.
