Hello,
my name is Anya. I am Ilyusha Kupriyanov's mom. My son is 2 years
and 7 months old. He is a very happy, sociable, kind and curious boy.
He likes to go for walks and play with his friends and loves animals.
In his 2.5 years of life he never had any serious illnesses.
We live in Volosovsky district of Leningrad region,
40 km away from a district center. There is no pediatrician in
our settlement and the roads to the district center are
in a dismal state.
This February my little boy got sick: his temperature rose to 39.5 C
and stayed high for 3 days. The doctor diagnosed him with an acute
respiratory illness and prescribed antibiotics. However, the temperature
did not go down and our son's condition continued to deteriorate.
We were taken to the district center by the ambulance. There
Ilyusha was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and
pneumonia of both lungs. Ilya was hospitalized at R. Gorbacheva
Institute of Pediatric Hematology and Transplantology
in St. Petersburg. He is now undergoing 36-day chemotherapy.
The treatment is paid for under a quota, but some of the
medications are not included in it. You are our only hope.
We are asking you to provide us with financial aid for
expensive medications (such as Vfend) for our little boy and
for apartment rental near the hospital.
We are grateful in advance to everyone
who will respond to our request.
Update as of July 7, 2010.
Ilya completed a course of hormonal therapy. He had a hard time
tolerating it. He had joint and bone aches and could not walk.
He cried at night that he had a stomachache and leg pains.
Once the course was over, he immediately felt better. He started
running and jumping again, and singing happy songs.
A new cycle of chemotherapy had started. His blood counts are
plummeting, but Ilyusha is staying strong. He does all doctor's
recommendations without complaints.
I would like to thank everyone who is helping our little boy get well.
