Hello!
Matvei was born on November 22, 2004. Until he was 2.5 years old, he was a healthy and
happy boy. He went to daycare. On May 12, 2007 he was taken to the hospital with a
diagnosis of acute gastroenteritis. He had high temperature, high blood pressure and
seizures. Matvei was at the hospital for 10 days and then he was discharged for
outpatient monitoring. The ultrasound test showed that his brain ventricles were
enlarged. On April 25, 2008 he had a second ultrasound that showed that everything
went back to normal.
In April 2008 Matvei started experiencing backaches and fatigue. He was falling asleep
in his chair and did not want to play with his friends. We called ambulance and it
took him to the hospital for examination. It turned out our son has acute leukemia
with damage to kidneys, liver and brain.
Unfortunately, we have no money to pay for our son's testing. The tomography is very
expensive. He also has a very costly treatment ahead of him.
Please help us save our son.
Update as of June 17, 2008.
Matvei developed a chemotherapy-related complication, sepsis, and he also had
breathing problems. He is now feeling better and was transferred on supporting
lung ventilation. Matvei is in remission for leukemia.
Update as of August 13, 2008.
Practically the whole June Matvei spent at intensive care unit.
Only on June 20th he was taken back to his unit. Matvei lost half of his weight.
He needed a wheelchair. Now the chemotherapy has been postponed due to rise
in Matvei's temperature. He receives antibiotic therapy. We are hoping to soon
start a block under a new protocol that was established on July 1.
We are very grateful to our supporters for the medications that were
purchased for us.

Update as of November 18, 2008.
Matvei is in a satisfactory condition. His complex treatment is
continuing. We buy supporting medications, such as Hexoral, Tantum verde
and neurological drugs.
At times, Matvei goes home for a few days.
The treatment will last another 4-5 months. The plan is to administer
radiation therapy at the end of the treatment at City hospital No.31.
Matvei now feels relatively well. He plays and enjoys listening to
stories. He takes Mycomax and medications to improve brain function.
We are enormously grateful to all our supporters who help us pay
for medications. Your help is much appreciated.

Update as of December 22, 2008.
Matvei's father lost his job and cannot find another one. The family's financial
situation is extremely difficult. Please support Matvei's family.
Matvei is feeling relatively well.
Update as of February 12, 2009.
We completed treatment. Matvei was tested. For now, he is low on defensive
cells, but other than that the results are good. Matvei takes Finlepsin,
Asparkam, Aqua Maris nose drops and Tantum Verde throat spray. Matvei
feels well, he plays and watches cartoons. We are waiting for the puncture,
after which we will rest for two weeks. Then Matvei will undergo radiation
therapy at Municipal hospital No.31 for two weeks.

Update as of May 21, 2009.
Matvei's main course of treatment is completed. He is now on
supporting therapy, but the doctors are not yet discharging him,
as they are treating his neurological problems that developed
due to neuroleukemia and chemotherapy.
Update as of May 25, 2009.
Matvei completed treatment and was discharged. We are enormously
grateful to all who have helped Matvei!
Update as of June 3, 2009.
Matvei and I came to the hospital for dental
treatment under anesthesia. Regarding main illness, he takes medications
under supporting protocol, such as Purinethol, Biseptol, Filicine, and
Methotrexate. We constantly have to buy Purinethol.
We are enormously grateful to those who support us! We would not be able to
cope with expensive treatment without your help. We would like to thank
volunteers and artists, thanks to whom children can get their minds off the
treatment, draw and make models. Your help is invaluable.

Update as of October 20, 2009.
Matvei is taking supporting therapy in pills, Purinethol and 6MP.
Once a month he comes to the hospital for injections and tests. Matvei's
counts are somewhat low now. Since Tuesday, Matvei has been an outpatient
at Children's hospital No.1 (9 floor) due to feeling a little unwell.
But overall, Matvei is in a good physical and emotional state.
Update as of January 12, 2010.
During routine examination, it was discovered that Matvei's
hearing has gone down significantly. He needs hearing aids made
by Istok Audio Trading that cost 60,000 rubles.
We will publish the bill in the next few days.
Update as of January 31, 2010.
Two weeks ago, our fund paid for the hearing aids using donations
sent to all patients. They should be at the clinic now and Matvei
will be able to get them. He was reviewed by the specialists from
State Medical University and they recommended an increase in the
number of hearing therapist's visits to 3 times a week.
Only one of the visits can be done for free, so Matvei's family
would have to pay for the other two visits (800 rubles each).
Matvei's family is still in a difficult financial situation.
They need help with paying for the therapy.
