Hello!
My name is Irina. I have a son Sergei. He is 12 and goes to school #433 in
Sestroretsk. Serezha trained in boxing, judo and soccer. After the 5th grade,
he went to his grandmother in Kurskaya oblast for the summer. However, in
mid-August he started suffering from stomachaches that were growing more and
more intense.
From August 26th to September 11th Serezha was at Childen's hospital No.2 with
a diagnosis of iron-deficiency anemia. Despite treatment, his hemoglobin
counts were going down and he continued having pains. Then on September 30th
he was admitted to Children's hospital No.1 in a serious condition.
On October 10th the ultrasound showed 4-cm intestinal tumor in ileum. On October
12th Serezha was already operated. The testing of the tumor discovered that
it is a diffuse large b-cell cell lymphoma. In a stable condition, Sergei was
transferred to the city hospital No.31.
While the testing and selection of treatment was underway, Serezha got a new,
quickly growing tumor in his intestines. In a matter of just two weeks, it
grew to 10 cm by 6.5 cm. And continued to grow. It pressed on Serezha's side
and post-operative stitches. There was no time left.
Urgently, starting on November 2, Serezha began chemotherapy with MabThera.
The first course of therapy was covered by Advita fund. However, the treatment
protocol calls for five more courses. Each course requires 563 mg (intravenously).
This is a very expensive drug. It is vitally needed by my son, but we cannot
afford to buy it. For the last three months, I have been by my son's side
around the clock, as he needs constant care.
I am asking everyone who can to respond and help us. Thank you in advance!
Wishing you and your loved ones great health!
Update as of December 27, 2009.

courses resulted in a remission as confirmed by computed tomography.

are coming back to hospital to continue the treatment.

Update as of February 15, 2010.
Last week Serezha spent at the hospital. Although a cycle of
chemotherapy was planned, it was postponed due to low leukocyte count
(1.3). On Thursday, Serezha enjoyed drawing during a class at the
hospital. He drew his grandmother's house in the country where
she wants to go soon.
Until Monday, Serezha was allowed to go home, and on Tuesday
he will start chemotherapy. The lumbar puncture is planned
for Wednesday.
We are thankful to Tatyana and forum St. Petersburg's Parents
who donated money for the tests.
